As a pre-vanlife honeymoon, we were planning to go to Vietnam. Then we got into caving. Looking up caves, it turned out the biggest cave in the world was where we already had plane tickets to: Vietnam! We jumped on it, and had an epic 4 days, 3 nights on a 20 km hike through the jungle and the biggest caves in the world. The crew was a mismatched assortment of folks from Canada, Dubai, Vietnam, India, and more, but we sure had a great time and got drunk together afterward 😀
Check out the 3 minute summary video to get a feel for the breathtaking beauty and enormity of Son Doong. The video starts on the trek through the jungle, then we hiked through the 3rd biggest cave in the world, Hang En, and spent the night there. Next we hike through more jungle to Son Doong, entering the massive cave, and viewing the 2 “Dolines” where the cave roof has collapsed, and eventually climbing out and up the “Great Wall of Vietnam.”
